      Overview

Enzo Gentile describes the private and professional life of an ingenious artist who left an indelible mark on several generations thanks to his unmatched ability to capture the spirit of Italian society. He was a critical touchstone and an irreplaceable voice even for those who only knew him through his records. Even twenty years after his death, he is still a cornerstone of Italian music. Nobody else has ever equalled his ability to describe a whole age and to read into even the most uncomfortable truths. The book investigates not just the artist but the man himself thanks to the accounts of dozens of more or less well-known figures who hung out with him, got to know him well, were involved in his private and professional life. Many of them come out for the first time about their experiences in the studio, on stage, in Genoa and Sardinia, taking the reader on an outstandingly rich journey brimming with charm.
