      Overview

The Atlas describes a stunning 650 species, from algae to mammals that live in Mediterranean Sea. It highlights their biodiversity and contributes to that slow but indispensable process of increasing knowledge, awareness and sensitivity that concerns every single one of us. The book explores 7500 km of coastlines, showing the alternation of sandy, pebbly and rocky beaches, as well as the complex biodiversity and unique marine habitats, such as the coralligenous areas. In keeping with the modern taxonomy tradition started by Linnaeus, the Phyla described in the book feature explanatory drawings of the organisms’ anatomy; each species comes with pictures, descriptions, habitats, distribution, legal notes and symbols to describe the protected, dangerous and alien species.
